Interior House Colors



Interior house colors have made wild gyrations over the years in what is acceptable and fashionable, and what is not. Lime greens and oranges dominated the domestic scenes of the 70's, when they adorned the Formica counter tops and kitchen appliances. Shades of browns were in vogue for a short while, finding their ways into sculptured carpets and simulated marble for the counter tops. Browns were eventually replaced by appliances in stainless steel. However, people eventually came to grips with the harsh reality that stainless steel looks cold and lacks the warmth that a home should have. People turned to appliances in the color of black, which continues to be popular. But eventually the trend turned back towards white, which seems to have a universal acceptability. Today, appliances are making new rounds, with new and interesting multi-color earth tones for the glass-ceramics that cover the electric and induction flat top kitchen ranges.



Walls have also had their say about the times. Off-white continues to be the primary color used in most apartments at apartment complexes. The wide range of furniture colors that white connects with makes it a natural and easy choice by managers who have to frequently paint the walls, as old tenants move out, leaving dirt, grime, and finger prints, and new tenants move in, expecting the dwelling to be sparkling clean. Tenants who paint their walls a different color do not receive scarlet A and are not banished from the complex. Usually, they have simply chosen to decorate by adding a little color, usually in the form of a splash wall, which is a single distinct wall that with a different color that accentuates the living space.
